I don’t think people’s torture is anything to poke fun at. Imagine that door closing you in.

Wow, this hall REALLY reminds me of my dorm hall when I was in college!

I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, eldokid, but it does look like it's sagging a bit to me, too.
This room has a chapel look to it -
There is something about a curved hallway that just FREAKS ME OUT!
Is it me or does it look like the ceiling is sagging a bit?

Liza..my ex husband did that to me, too. His was going on for 3 years before I found out! He chose her over me, which was a good thing, because I deserve better. I have struggled mightily emotionally ever since, so I can sympathize with what your Grandma went through. Our divorce has been final for a year and a half, and it still feels like I found out about the affair yesterday. It hurts.
Writing a book on a missing boy from 1971 who may have been committed here. Will not publish without your permission.
Yes, thanks, Corkie. Beds between the windows. A Bright room!
I worked there. My Grandmother worked there. The community loves the buildings and mourning the economic loss. Unfortunately an investor with enough capital to remove the asbestos the buildings are full of and then still have enough left to Do something afterwards hasn't been found.

I graduated from SLPC in 1978. I remember the vast rooms and the shock therapy chambers. A lot of history there. It was once a very productive place, a farm on the grounds and the women used to make gorgeous quilts and rag rugs. They had a sale every year and my grandmother used to take us to the State Hospital sale in the spring. I still have one of the beautiful quilts she purchased.

I'm not sure what it is about this picture, but I got chills looking at it. Great picture!
