Urban Chaotic Master - I would guess that you are probably right - the thing that looks like a microphone is indeed a microphone. As the physician is conducting the post-morten, the microphone could be used to dictate findings/body condition into (at the time probably) a tape recorder. The transcriptionist would then type the findings into the official report.

Good grief Tree! There's an unwritten rule among the majority of Urban Explorers..TAKE NOTHING, LEAVE NOTHING. The majority are there to photograph HISTORY! As more and more old buildings disappear every day, it's photographers like Motts who keep these memories alive for those of us who are fascinated with history and old buildings. Give it a rest, would you!

Hi formerpt74..I am glad to read your post. I think a lot of people speculate about what horrors patients went through at these hospitals. No one can judge unless they've been a patient, like yourself. I have never been one. That's not to say that abuses never happened..but I think there were good people working hard to take care of patients in most instances.

As a former patient for depression I can tell you that I had the best of care. I
Was on the hill for a week and transferred to a dorm down hill. I do not remember any of the bad things that happened to others but then talk and rumours were not prevalent at the time

My mother was admitted upon opening of the hospital and later moved to a housing building on the property where she could come and go but slept there. Yes, bowling lanes, billiards, canteen, it was a very nice place and was exclusive.

The comments here are astoundingly stupid.

This is a site dedicated to exploring the lost and forgotten spaces of humankind. I would argue against your opinion that everything should be demolished because thieves exist in the world... but I'm not really sure where you're coming from, or what you accuse me of being ignorant of...?

So, is this a site for appreciating old buildings and all they hold or just for finding stuff to steal? It's people like yourself that cause owners to have to employ security to keep your ignorant self outta places like this. If people are going to take everything that isn't nailed down, then they may as well demolish them. Ridiculous!

Thanks you Neo for setting them straight! Nurses are damn hard workers. The other 23 hrs 55 minutes a day the doctor is not there, it's a NURSE that keeps patients alive!
quanto sangue já passou por esses drenos!

You should see a wigwam burner near Hayfork,California at the former High Point Lumber Co. A wigwam burner resembles a steel shuttlecock. And they were used to Insinerate the sawdust and wood waste . Have you seen any wigwam burners during your travels and where are they? Th wall painting should be on display at The Museum of Modern Art.
