No technical information this time :-)

An emergency drain pit. It's made of concrete because concrete will neither melt down nor burn.

Sssss... Thisss was the only sound of the green bell :-) . It was there to keep constant gas pressure on its outlet. You can see another reducing valve on the right.

Revealed: a hydraulic station. The oil tank and the pump motor are visible on the left.

Well, Tony C., ready to taste some gas? :-) In my country (CZ), pipes with natural gas are all yellow. By the way, I recognized a pneumatic control valve on the right side of the picture.

In my opinion, conductive pads are there just to align potentials of the patient, the gurney and connected portable device such as a sensitive EKG monitor. Proper grounding will get better results of monitoring weak millivolt signals of a human body without static electricity induced while moving. Gurney wheels made of rubber may be a bit conductive, too.

A good shot! As usual, the transformer is missing from this transformer station but tons of steel and some hundreds kilos of copper are a good reason for recycling. You can still see lever operated switches (levers aren't visible, just their draw rods are) and some of grounding wires. The picture looks quite overphotoshopped but I still like it.

This is a Ward Leonard control, a predecessor of modern frequency converters. It can smoothly change voltage for the elevator motor. It's mounted vertically to reduce vibrations transfered into floor from its spinning shaft.

This is probably a Ward Leonard control. The motor-generator section was used for smooth speed control of the elevator motor. In modern buildings, thyristor drives, soft-starters or frequency converters are used instead.

Can you imagine how much the place cost to run on heating alone, not to mention the upkeep of such an old building???? Best thing the tories did was close all them places down, saves the tax payers a fortune!!! (Those who pay tax anyhow). Shame it wasn`t turned into something else though, was a nice building in it`s day.
