The tunnels were a popular hang out spot . Back in the 80's we would get ripped in the woods then walk through the tunnels-- really creepy. We also found the Nike missle location at the peak of the mountain, we didn't know what it was until our science teacher at Nanuet HS had told us. Too many cops would patrol the roads around that area- so we stopped going there. We too would run into a few hobos that lived in the woods.

lol. actually, its a steam expansion return pipe. it basically holds the extra built up steam from the boilers and recyles it.
